Syracuse Basketball vs Florida Recap: This, That, and the Other Thing

*Florida is 7-3 vs the Big East since 2005. The three losses are all to Syracuse.
*Over the past three seasons, the Orange are 9-2 against teams ranked in the top 10.

*Syracuse had won by an average margin of victory of 26 points before a tight 4-point win in this game.
*Florida was the first ranked non-Big East opponent to play Syracuse at the Carrier Dome since No. 17 Wichita State in the 2006-07 season. Syracuse lost that game 64-61.

*The last non-conference team ranked in the top 10 to play Syracuse at the Dome was No. 10 Tennessee in the 2000-01 season. Syracuse lost that game, too, 83-70. (H/T Mike Waters for that stat)

*Scoop Jardine became the 56th player in Syracuse history to join the 1,000 point club in tonight's game.

*C.J. Fair had a career-high 11 rebounds in this game.

*The crowd of 24,459 was the largest on-campus attendance in the nation so far this season.

*Jim Boeheim admitted he was looking ahead at Marshall and said the Thundering Herd may be one of the most talented teams SU will face

"I usually don’t look ahead but I thought Marshall might be better than anybody we’ve played, so I think that will be a difficult thing for our players now to turn around this thing by Tuesday to get ready. I’ve been watching teams we’re playing: Marshall, GW [George Washington], and Tulane is 8-0. These teams are playing good; there are a lot of good teams. Hopefully that will help us to get going.."

*Former Orange star Carmelo Anthony was at the game and sat court side in the Daryl Gross celebrity seats. He received a rousing ovation from the crowd of 24,459 when he

was introduced over the P.A. early in the game.

*Former Orange Assistant and Eastern Michigan, (whom Syracuse played on Tuesday) coach Rob Murphy was at the game and sat with Daryl and Carmelo.

*Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Nelson, a Florida grad, and his girlfriend Kelsi Reich were at the game.
You will recall Reich is the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader whom Nelson ran over and gave the football to after Nelson scored a TD vs Dallas in Week 10 of the NFL season.

*Tweet of the Night:

OK. I'm going to cheat a little. The "tweet of the night" isn't actually from the game. It goes back to earlier in the day when the official twitter feed of SU Athletics tweeted out (by mistake) this gem.

"Jim Boeheim has won 863 games against Eastern Michigan University"
