SEATTLE – CB Nnamdi Asomugha sustained a stinger and was examined for a concussion in Thursday’s 31-14 loss to the Seahawks, but the team now has 10 days to get the All-Pro corner ready for the Dolphins.
Not that it matters, since the club fell to 4-8 and is the longest of long shots to make the playoffs. The injury happened on the same play in the second quarter, when he landed awkwardly after breaking up a pass from Tarvaris Jackson to Mike Williams, who actually committed interference on the play but wasn’t flagged.

Asomugha, who was already playing with some knee pain from a hyperextension he suffered in practice last week, went back to the locker room and never reentered the game.
With CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie still sidelined from an ankle injury, Asomugha’s snaps were split by nickelback Joselio Hanson and dimeback Brandon Hughes. Hanson, who’s a slot specialist, got beat by inside WR Golden Tate in the third quarter on the Seattle. His coverage was there but Hanson was outjumped by Tate for the well-thrown pass.
Notes: The team lost its best special teams player for the rest of the season when Colt Anderson tore a knee ligament in the second quarter. Anderson, a backup safety, is the main ingredient to the club’s fifth-ranked punt coverage unit and third-ranked kickoff coverage unit. CB Curtis Marsh, the team’s third-round pick, will probably see more time on special teams in Anderson’s absence, but nobody on the club has Anderson’s acumen for special teams. Anderson was a strong candidate to make the Pro Bowl as a special teams player.
