Jay Cutler, Kristin Cavallari have return engagement

Unfazed by a false start, Jay Cutler is ready to take another shot at the end zone of holy matrimony.
He confirmed Internet and social-network reports that he again is engaged to reality TV star Kristin Cavallari. No wedding date has been set.
Cutler, 28, and Cavallari, 24, originally became engaged last April, but the couple ended the engagement in late July, right around the time the NFL lockout ended.
Cavallari, who grew up in Barrington and went to Barrington High School for a year before moving to California, starred in MTV reality shows “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County’’ and “The Hills.” She appeared in “Dancing With the Stars,” where she scored well in technical areas but was eliminated earlier than many expected.
Cutler joked with reporters about his upcoming betrothal Wednesday at Halas Hall. Asked about the reported engagement, which Cavallari had tweeted earlier in the day, he said, ‘‘I just heard about that, too,’’ then quickly added, ‘‘I’m joking — don’t write that.’’ But he did confirm the engagement.
Injuries and fines
Cornerback Charles Tillman did not practice because of a knee injury but is expected to practice Thursday and start against the Chiefs this Sunday, coach Lovie Smith said.
Nickel back D.J. Moore (ankle), who has missed the last two games, practiced on a limited basis, as did cornerback Zack Bowman (groin).
Right tackle Lance Louis was fined $7,500 for his horse-collar tackle of Kamerion Wimbley on Wimbley’s 73-yard interception return Sunday in Oakland.
Defensive end Julius Peppers was named the NFC defensive player of the month for November.
Urlacher honored
Linebacker Brian Urlacher was voted by teammates as a recipient of the 2011 Ed Block Courage Award, presented to the player on each NFL team ‘‘who best exemplifies a commitment to sportsmanship and courage and serves as an inspiration in the locker room.’’
QB or not QB
Chiefs coach Todd Haley said Tyler Palko will start at quarterback Sunday but Kyle Orton would get 40 percent of the snaps in practice. ‘‘[Orton] might have to play, and he might not,’’ Haley said.
